What It Would Be Like To Live In Space

Life in Space by Muhammad Hamza

Imagine life in space, what would it be like? How would we live there?

We would be living on other planets. There would still be different cities but we would have to live in domes instead of houses. They would supply oxygen to us and make life almost exactly like Earth. There would be one bonus function we could use, if we get tired of walking then we could turn off the gravity and start floating. We would bring storable food from Earth which would be used as emergency rations. The rest we would have to grow by supplying artificial light. We would also have to provide the carbon dioxide present in space. A thick layer of Martian soil on top of the inflatable habitat will protect the plants (and the astronauts) from radiation. One problem for oxygen is what if it runs out? NASA has created a way to generate oxygen. This oxygen generation is done by a unit in a rover called Moxie. It makes 5 grams of the gas equivalent to what an astronaut at Mars would need to breathe for roughly 10 minutes. It takes Carbon Dioxide and converts it into oxygen through a processing plant. This process allows us to to turn it into usable things such as propellant, breathable air, or, combined with hydrogen, water. For bathrooms we would also have to make sewer systems in domes. Nearly everything like schools, clinics etc. would be in domes.

Before going outside we would have to wear space suits so we can walk around with no problems. The cars in space would be rovers or space buggies. For going to areas which are far away we could use hyper loops. There would be space stations in space which would be used to do further research on space. We could find all sorts of new minerals and materials on the planet and it could help us make new inventions or make old inventions better. It could help us make medicines and cures that have never been made before. If aliens exist we could be good friends with them and exchange the things we have and they have learned that is if they are friendly aliens. If they don’t like us we could be having a space war with them. We could have medical centers in domes or they could be out in space. We could build space hotels out in space floating about. Maybe we could even build holiday homes out in space. To generate electricity on different planets we could use the energy produced by stars because the sun is a star and we can make solar energy from it.

If we get the hang of living in space on different planets then we could keep on expanding and start living in other galaxies and on their planets. If we keep going the way we are going we might have to actually live in space because we might make Earth uninhabitable. I hope if we do make Earth uninhabitable we are ready for it and don’t get wiped out. It would be best if we keep living on Earth but if we can’t we should be ready for it.
