What Have We Done To Our Planet
One of the most luckiest things for mankind is that we were born on the Earth. If we had been born on some other planet we wouldn’t even be alive right now. The Earth is perfect for us, we have so much natural food, water and oxygen but we had to ruin it. We exploited its natural resources without taking into account the consequences and now we are suffering for it.
We have caused deforestation, water pollution, air pollution, global warming etc. We have also invaded the animals’ and plants’ natural habitat. In the past 50 years we have killed over half of the world’s wildlife and plant species and some are endangered. We didn’t even leave the sea alone. Overfishing has caused many fish to become extinct or endangered. We also throw away garbage into the sea which causes water pollution and can kill many fish in the water. We are also releasing dangerous chemicals into the air which causes air pollution and is destroying the ozone layer. These chemicals may be released from factories and industries. Even while farming we are harming the environment with pesticides. We are also using harmful energy resources like fuel and coal. These chemicals go in the air and can damage the ozone layer around the Earth. The ozone layer protects the Earth by absorbing the ultraviolet rays from the sun. The glaciers are melting and the sea-level is rising because of global warming. We are the reason for this as well. The glaciers melting is destroying the habitats of animals like polar bears and penguins. Another way of destroying animals is deforestation and again it is us who is chopping these trees down. Not only does this destroy habitats for animals but it also increases greenhouse gases which causes global warming. It is also destroying the beauty of the greenery on Earth and causes desertification.
We have made many changes to the planet although it may have made our lives better, it is nowhere close to the damage we have done. I wish people would open their eyes to the damage we have done. The only way to make this better is to open the eyes of people otherwise the Earth might become uninhabitable and we are gonna have to spend life out in space somewhere.
